JJ-93. CA 29.6 (CA 84-29). Architectural terracotta, frieze plaque. Large fragment of strigillated sima preserved from upper termination of cavetto with convex strigils to lower edge of fascia below with part of tile, right side extant, left side fractured. H. 15.7, w. 26.2, th. at lower fascia 1.8, gr. prev. depth of lower edge 4.8. H. of fascia 7.4 at right side, at left side 7.1, the circular depressions of the centres of the guilloche pattern (5 are preserved) are 4.8 apart. W. of strigils measured from middle of furrow ca, 3.4. Vertical height of strigils 8, the projection of the strigils 8.5-9.0, h. of sima 15.8 (right side), 15.4 (left side) Clay: coarse, very rich in minute black inclusions, so rich that the surface on the lower backside is nearly black, some large black inclusions; grey in core (10YR 6/1-5/1), lighter brown at surface (7.5YR 6/4). There are traces of a slip on the backside, upper part fired mauve, lower part red-brown. Guilloche pattern on lower fascia with paint rather worn off, colours red brown (2.5YR 5/8-4/8) and cream-yellow. Strigils cream-yellow, channels between strigils red-brown.
