[The Temple of Castor and Pollux (Rome, Italy), Trench M: Post-antique pottery, X-5]

X-5. CM 1.30.973. Drawing. Trench M. Medieval. Forum ware (ceramica con vetrina pesante). Late group. Open form. Fragment of lamp? The rim is slightly incurved and flat on top, but nothing is left of the supposed trefoil spout, which could have made the identification as a lamp more secure. Form 2. Ø 9 cm, wth. 0.5 cm. Fabric 1: 10YR 5/1 (grey). The somewhat thin glaze is light to dark olive brown. Transitional between Forum Ware and Sparse Glazed Ware A? Parallels: Cini et al. 1985, pl. 17, no. 178 (transitional ware); Paroli 1990, pl. 45, no. 359 (Sparse Glazed A and B Ware). Date: late 10th century/early 11th century
