[The Temple of Castor and Pollux (Rome, Italy), Trench R: Post-antique pottery, X-32]

X-32 CR 1A.874. Medieval Pottery. Ceramica Laziale. Body fragment of closed shape; possibly part of the shoulder of a jug. Wth. 0.3-0.5 cm. Fabric 2: 5YR 6/8 (reddish yellow). Abraded lead-glaze, not Glaze 1, on interior in variant colour, 7.5YR 6/2 (pinkish grey) (closest parallel). Transparent lead-glaze on exterior 10YR 6/6 (brownish yellow), Glaze 2. The under-glaze decoration on the exterior consists of two vertical parallel brown lines and a large patch of warm grass green. The red fabric and the warm grass green colour do not seem local. Parallels: no direct parallels. Date: perhaps 13th century
